On Friday 1 July Team Hemlow employees competed alongside their peers at the annual JLL Property Triathlon. This year our employees were racing to help raise vital funds for our company charity Young Lives vs Cancer.
This year saw some new team members step up to the challenge, as well as some returning familiar faces, with one relay team and three individual triathletes all taking part. With months of training behind them, our athletes were eager to get to the start line and get their races underway.
First up was Contract Manager Gary, who was taking part in the full individual triathlon. An experienced triathlete Gary set the bar high completing the course in under 2 hours.
Ready to challenge his time was Contract Manager Jack Sanders who was next up to take on the full event. Speeding around the course Jack crossed the line with an amazing time of 1:29:57, a personal best for him on this course!
Next up was our relay team, with Managing Director Chris kicking things off as he dived into the cold waters of Dorney Lake to begin his swim.
After completing the swim in an impressive 18 minutes, it was then time to pass the baton onto Supply Chain Manager Josh, who set off on his bike to complete the 21km ride.
And finally, it was time to hand over to Callum for the final leg of the race, who breezed the 5km run.
As Callum approached the finish line, he was joined by his teammates who crossed the line with him for a photo finish, completing the relay with an impressive time of 1:54:39.
And last but most certainly not least, was Hemlow Maintenance Engineer Alex, taking on the full individual triathlon. Despite having had to wait most of the day to start his race Alex was still raring to go! The day ended on a high as his teammates cheered him over the finish line with a time of 01:58:13.
It was a great day enjoyed by all, with many already excited to return next year.
But most importantly the team raised a fantastic amount of money for our company charity Young Lives vs Cancer. #TeamHemlow Managing Director Chris sponsored each participant for their efforts with a donation towards this amazing charity. In addition, our athletes received fundraising donations from family and friends, bringing us ever closer to our target of £3000!
