Investing in our Employees

Written by Emily Evans

At Hemlow, we have always regarded our people as our greatest asset. It has therefore been a source of pride for us over the years to be able to invest in our employees, who in turn have invested their talent and loyalty in us.

Having recently marked our 25th birthday, we felt it is was the perfect time to reflect on the outstanding work and dedication that our employees demonstrate on a daily basis. Many of our employees have been with us through several previous milestones, and so it is important to recognise their loyalty and resilience which has been so integral in reaching this significant date.

Our HR Manager, Linda Uguz, discuses the ways in which we will be recognising the hard work of our employees, with a new scheme that will affect all staff at Hemlow.

“We are delighted to launch our reward and recognition programme, celebrating our employees throughout their careers. Our first milestone will be for 10 years service, followed by 15 and 20 years and beyond.

We will be personalising our rewards with either gifts or experiences based on our employees hobbies and interests. This will be to say thank you for the personal touch they have invested in Hemlow over the years. Not only will this scheme promote long-term commitment, but also effective collaboration between teams in Hemlow.

Whilst recognising longstanding employees we are keen to ensure that all feel connected, including our newest recruits. We are introducing annual themed events, inviting all within the company to come together and get to know one another.”

As part of our commitment to our employees we place a great emphasis on Employee Wellbeing. We have a number of initiatives to support our teams, including the below:

  • Employee Assistance Programme – a confidential service designed to help with personal or professional problems, with expert advice and compassionate guidance available 24/7
  • Death in Service Benefit Scheme – providing peace of mind for employees should anything happen whilst working with us at Hemlow.
  • Private Health Care – available after 3 years of service to assist with medical assistance required.
  • Hemlow High Five – recognising the hard work of individuals in our teams, by giving one another a shout out through a virtual high five system. A shout outcan brighten someone’s day and is a great way to recognise the talented work of a colleague who may have gone the extra mile.

“We want to ensure that all employees feel connected”

Linda, HR Manager

At this exciting time of moving our internal HR department to the next level, we strongly believe in developing and driving a reward and recognition programme and embracing employee wellbeing. This will have a huge positive impact on the business and employee morale, deepening our employee satisfaction levels and reinforcing a culture of recognition.
